iWAM Research Project -- Discovering Tolkien Categories

As most of you already know, Denis Bridoux, co-author of the book "7 Steps to Emotional Intelligence" and director of Post-Graduate Professional Education (PGPE), has been a Tolkien fan for nearly 30 years.

Over the years of meeting people at a range of formal and informal Tolkien Society events, Denis had identified that, depending on the character people associated most with in the Legendarium, they would display significantly similar personalities, i.e. people who identified with Hobbits displayed similar personality traits, the same with Dwarves, Elves, Men, etc. (granted that there are subcategories within each kindred, a Noldo might behave more like a Dwarf than other Elves and a Fallohide more like a Númenórean Man, etc.).

In August 2001, we sat together and worked out a plan which would enable us to test this hypothesis and would like to find out the characteristics of Middle-earth characters from the perspective of people who relate to them. And for this, we need your support and would appreciate your honest cooperation to help us discover whether there is something behind this. Please note that this relating may be for several reasons:

The character is like you.
The character is like the way you would like to be.
The character is most unlike the way you would like to be (an example of this is the number of Black Riders, who, in ordinary life, are very saintly. In actual fact we know of at least one who a member of the priesthood!)

So, we would appreciate if you would be so kind as to take the time to build these profiles which, irrespective of what you do with them, may be of use later in your professional life, or even for finding a life-partner, if this is not already done.

We organized it as a 2-step process

First, fill out the iWAM test using the link to PGPE's Demo page.
Once you filled out the test, you'll get a XID and TID code mailed to you.

Second, come back to this page and type in your jobEQ identification numbers (XID and TID) and indicate the Tolkien character you identify yourself with. As a gift to you, for participating in this research we give you the Attitude Sorter Report, which indicates your 8 strongest patterns and your 4 weakest patterns, in relationship to an Anglo-Saxon population. Of course, we will communicate our findings to anyone who participated in this research project.
